Liverpool are a Jurgen Klopp team now.
The German has enjoyed his first pre-season with the club, signed his kind of players and let those he doesn’t feel suit his playing style go. Reds fans want to see some progression this season after a lowly eighth place finish in 2015/16 and the former Dortmund man knows he needs to steer the side to a higher place.
He’s been busy in the market, with Sadio Mane, Giorgino Wijnaldum and Loris Karius three of the headline signings, but many think he might not be done just yet.
Liverpool have a tendency to go for younger players and one name doing the rounds certainly fits that description – Martin Odegaard. The Norwegian is reportedly keen on a loan switch to Anfield and he may not be the last of the incomings this summer.
Here are FIVE more we at Football FanCast think could be heading to Merseyside…
Anwar El Ghazi
The Mirror think that El Ghazi has been offered to a host of clubs including the Reds and he’s certainly the kind of player Liverpool look for. He’s young and has shown good potential at Ajax that Jurgen Klopp will feel he can work with. He can play in a number of roles going forward and that’s bound to help him fit in to Liverpool’s fluid attack.
Joe Hart
It seems that Joe Hart’s Man City days are numbered.
It’s up for debate what you think about Pep Guardiola’s treatment of the England number one but you can’t deny his decisiveness leaving the former Shrewsbury Town man out in the cold.
Liverpool are reportedly one of the clubs interested in his services and that’d certainly give the Reds competition for places in that position.
Fabio Coentrao
Liverpool need a left-back. They’ve let Jon Flanagan leave on loan and Joe Gomez remains out with injury.
Alberto Moreno meanwhile simply isn’t defensively astute enough for the level the Reds are trying to achieve and so this leaves a glaring weakness in the team. Coentrao would be the ideal signing; he’s played for Real Madrid, knows how to position himself and should be available.
Moussa Sissoko
The Frenchman would jump at the chance to leave Newcastle so the Reds might try and see if they can get any luck with a bid.
Sissoko has the energy to play exactly how Jurgen Klopp likes his sides to perform and when he’s on form looks like a top player. His inconsistency may be an issue but if the German thinks he can stamp that out, the midfielder may be worth a punt.
Lucas Moura
Despite the signing of Sadio Mane, Liverpool still lack width.
The acquisition of the former Southampton man has already highlighted how much better the Reds look with extra pace down the flanks and having a similar player on the other side would surely make them even more threatening.
Moura would cost a fair bit, but the Reds have shown they’re willing to spend.
