[ad_pod ]Former AC Milan and Juventus playmaker Andrea Pirlo has questioned Liverpool striker Divock Origi’s attitude. The Belgian came off the bench to replace Roberto Firmino early in the second half of the Champions League final and netted a crucial second goal to ensure that the trophy would be heading home toÂMerseyside. It was just the third shot that the former Lille forward had taken in the competition this season, and resulted in his third goal in Europe this term – not a bad success rate at all.Has Salomon Rondon had a better season than Bobby Firmino? Matt from The Magpie Channel discusses in the video below…However, the footballing legend was not happy with Origi.
What did he say?
The former Italy international told Sky Sports Italia (via The Mirror): “Divock Origi was awful. He came on in such an important game with that attitude.
“If he hadn’t scored, they should’ve given him a kicking.”
Very, very unfair on Origi
The 24-year-old looked far more threatening to the Tottenham backline in his short time on the pitch than Firmino did over the course of almost an hour.
Origi’s pace, enhanced physical presence and directness gave Jan Vertonghen and Toby Alderweireld something else to think about; there was certainly nothing off about his attitude.
Speaking of attitude, it could easily be argued that the Belgian is Liverpool’s most selfless player.
When told by BT Sport’s Des Kelly that he’d ‘done it again’, Origi replied: “We done it.”
That isn’t to mention the fact that the former Wolfsburg loanee has simply got his head down this season and delivered when Jurgen Klopp truly needed him to.
Firstly, there was the 96th-minute Merseyside derby winner which kept Liverpool in the title race. Then there was his timely header late on against Newcastle to keep the Reds in touch of Manchester City with just two games to go.
And of course, there was his famous double at Anfield in the 4-0 win against Barcelona to help record the comeback of all comebacks.
Even after all of that, he was still benched for the final, but didn’t kick up a fuss or throw a strop.
Instead, he came on and did the business yet again as he has done all season long.
If anyone in the Liverpool camp has a bad attitude, it certainly isn’t Origi.
