According to Alan Nixon of The Sun, Leeds are demanding £30m for Kalvin Phillips this summer.
Aston Villa were linked with the player by The Telegraph earlier this month as they claimed the Villans were lining up a £14m transfer. However, they’ll now have to pay more than double that to secure his services.
It was a report which sparked quite the reaction on Twitter as many Villa fans took to the social media channel to have their say on the latest update.
One supporter merely wished him good luck in the Championship next season, assuming the Midlands outfit wouldn’t pay up. Another claimed the price tag was laughable for someone who hadn’t played in the Premier League.
A further fan suggested that football clubs were becoming thieves, such is the state of the inflated transfer market. One individual was simply amused at the situation, declaring that Phillips wasn’t worth the fee Leeds have slapped on his head.
The 23-year-old played 44 times in the second tier last season, featuring as a holding midfielder and at centre-back.
He had an extremely impressive campaign as he made 2.6 tackles per game and also won 2.6 aerial duels per match in the league.
Here’s the best of the reaction.
