However, the Uruguayan forward is certainly not one of them as he will likely have a chapter on his heroics in Gremio folklore after scoring 17 league goals that propelled them to the second spot in the Serie A. He ended up not only winning the Golden Boot of the league but also the Golden Ball after being adjudged to be the MVP of the competition.

After bagging the double award in Sao Paulo, Suarez said: “At almost 37 years old, it has been the year I have played the most games in my career, the year I have spent the most time away from my wife and children. The award is for them."

It has been a historic season for Gremio as they became the first team to finish in the runners-up position after being promoted to Serie A. Until now, the record was shared among Gremio (2006), Athletico-PR (2013), and Internacional (2018) who finished third in the Brazilian Championship after making the leap to Brazil's top flight.
